His father, who was a prominent researcher in tropical medicine, urged his Son to seek a career in medicine, but Stephen found biology and medicine were not exact enough. In school life he had no exciting moments. While at Oxford his interest for physics increased and the result was first class in honors (1962) .He then began his post graduation at Cambridge University. At the age of 21, while studying cosmology at Cambridge University, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) .The Theory of Everything was screened based on his life in 2014.

The Doctors made his house a medical clinic to undergo a series of tests. After the diagnosis of ALS the doctors gave him two and a half years to live. The news came to him and his family as a bolt from the blue. But he didn’t become despondent. Actually his disease helped him to be a notable scientist. Though he was an outstanding student he was not attentive to his study. “Before my condition was diagnosed, I had been bored with life ,”he said .”There had not seemed to be anything worth doing.” His sudden realization that he might not live to earn his phd he preoccupied himself with work and research.
Hawkings Friendship with Machine:
With the passage of time he was losing control over his body diminished. Though he could feed himself and get out of bed, he had to depend on others assistance.
Moreover his speech had become slurred and only his voice for good following a tracheotomy. And the result was confinement in wheelchair and 24 hours nursing care. Later Hawkings who could still use his fingers selected his words with a handheld clicker. Eventually, all his virtual control over body gone, he began to direct the program through a cheek muscle attached to a sensor. Through the program and the help of assistants Hawking continued his research and writings

The couple had three children-Robert, Lucy, Timothy .They were happy in their married life but suddenly Hawkings divorced Jane and married his nurse Elaine Mason. They got married in 1995. This relationship deteriorated his relation with his children which contributed later the divorce between Hawking and Elaine .after the divorce the physicist reconciled with his wife and children.
On March 14, 2018 this luminous star finally accepted the subjugation of the disease which tried to do it 50 years ago. A family spokesman confirmed the departure of the iconic scientist at his home in Cambridge, England.
